The purpose of the study was to collect complete information on the current state of lighting of the Vistula River quays in the central area of the capital city of Warsaw in the context of:
- spatial conditions and the relation of the quay view formed at night compared to the daytime condition,
- completed and current transformations taking place on the quays, especially the left bank of the river.

In addition, the objective was also a basic, general inventory of the typology of lighting existing on the waterfront, assessment of its condition and assessment of spatial relations occurring between lighting and the space illuminated on a wide scale of a longer section of the waterfront.
In the end, the aim of the study is to develop general, final conclusions and design guidelines for the implementation of a full concept of comprehensive and coherent lighting of the illumination of the left and right bank of the Vistula in the central area of Warsaw.
