Namaskard or Hverir Geothermal Area
Hverarönd, often called Námaskarð, gives an idea why sulphur is often associated with the devil. This bizarre high-temperature area with its boiling mud holes, rising columns of steam and the strong smell, one could almost say stench, is impressive and gives a feeling of the forces and heat raging inside the earth.

Hverarönd, oft auch Námaskarð genannt, lässt erahnen, warum Schwefel oft mit dem Teufel in Verbindung gebracht wird. Dieses bizarre Hochtemperaturgebiet mit seinen kochenden Schlammlöchern, den aufsteigenden Dampfsäulen und dem starken Geruch, fast möchte man sagen Gestank, ist beeindruckend und vermittelt ein Gefühl dafür, welche Kräfte und welche Hitze im Innern der Erde toben.
