Anti Bully Campaign

BAWANG PUTIH AND BAWANG MERAH x Anti Bully Campaign

BRIEF :
Bullying is a pertinent issue that happens among Malaysian school children. Craft a design solution that would be effective in addressing this problem.

INSIGHTS :
Most of our target audience (primary school students) bullies don’t understand how wrong their behaviour is and how it makes the person being bullied feel.

IDEA:
By using characters from traditional Malaysian folklore and loosely adapting the narratives into anti bullying campaign messages. I wish to reach out to the local children with something culturally relatable.

Design Solution:
A series of story books (digital and physical) and a lesson toolkit that uses Characters from the story “Bawang Putih dan Bawang Merah” – A story of 2 sisters where one plays the role of the bully and the other the victim, and a circle of friends that played a role in ending the hostility and aggression between them.

How it works:
The stories reinforces the powers of being a proactive bystander, by using social pressure and calling out injustice, it helps reorient and suppress negative behaviors amongst children; but yet involves adult intervention to ensure that both parties- the bully and the victim’s emotional needs are met.
Each week we will introduce new lesson for our target students in order for them to understand how to prevent bully better.
