JOSHUA TREE NATIONALPARK, summer 2019
During our one- month roadtrip in the summer of 2019, through the west of the USA, we drove through the Joshua Tree Nationalpark. We also stopped by the cholla cactus garden.
Joshua Tree National Park is an extensive nature reserve in southern California. It is characterized by rugged rock formations and barren desert landscapes. The park was named after the bizarre, spiky Joshua trees that are typical of the region and borders on the Colorado desert littered with cacti and on the higher and cooler Mojave desert.
The cactus garden is located in an area with a special soil with a basin that was created by the shifting of the earth slabs. here the soil lets the water through and provides a good breeding ground for the cacti.
