This painting depicts Dundas Valley, looking northeastward, towards Lake Ontario inspired by the views along the Headwater Trail of the Dundas Valley Conservation Authority. The actual valley floor is nearly twice it’s current visible depth and follows the Pre-Cambrian Hamilton-Presqu’ile basement fault. ​​​​​​​ ​​​​​​​
Sheltering here can be found the northernmost and southernmost incidences of several species and is one of the most biodiverse locations in Canada. Sassafras, Chinquapin Oak, Tulip Poplar, Flowering Dogwood and Red Mulberry grow alongside Tamarack, White Cedar and Spruce. Dundas Valley has been designated an Important Bird and Biodiversity Area (IBA).​​​​​​​
