A new visual identity for Vapa, a modern marketing communications agency.


In 2018 the organisation was undergoing structural changes, organising their services and packaging their know-how into clearer segments to better fit the changing business landscape. We were tasked with redesigning the company’s visual identity. Working closely together with Vapa’s Art Director Heikki Rossi, Creative Director Jenni Valtiala and Vapa’s in-house design team, we created a new visual identity that communicates Vapa’s core values, expertise and stands out in a crowded field.

We set out to create a logo that would be memorable, fun and packed with meaning. The logo is constructed from four symbols:
The Heart – Passion for their clients and work
The All Seeing Eye – Phenomena, stories and insight
The Column + Pie Chart – Understanding data and technologies
The Alchemist symbol for Change – The ability to create change
The vibrant colour palette contains four paired colour palettes adding up to 16 colours. The palette allows flexibility to present the brand in various ways depending on the content.

The brand uses four weights of the functional yet distinctive Russian sans serif Formular.
The individual symbols of the logo are animated to bring alive their purpose. The animated symbols are used throughout the brand presentation materials.

The motion design of the brand continues from the symbols to the building blocks of the presentation templates. 

A set of additional symbols were created using the visual language of the logo.
The identity was implemented by Vapa’s in-house design team.
