Atlantis
Illustration for a “Greece Is” article about the lost city of Atlantis. In his works Timaeus and Critias, Plato describes the lost city of Atlantis as he himself had heard it told. According to the Philosopher, Atlantis was an island made up of alternating concentric circles of water and land varying in size. As a nod to Plato, the illustration becomes a symbolic account of Atlantis which comprises of a partially submerged bust of Plato (an allusion to its eventual fate) with all the fantastical elements of the lost city emanating from his head.
