James Bond Movie Poster Design

Entering a Competition to Design the Newest James Bond Poster

I started this project by researching the other bond posters I liked the aesthetic of. Pinterest is helpful for this.
I examined the photos from the movie we could use in our design. They were a little low res, so I would not be able to make them very big.
It was unclear whether they wanted us to use their typography in the design. So I made one poster without and used this for the rest.
Given the title is "No Time To Die" I thought it would make sense to visually incorporate: red for blood and death, skull to also represent death and danger and finally a clock to represent time.
My hand drawn illustrations, scanned and used in the final posters.
This mask I took directly from the trailer, it seemed to be of importance.

In a way it was hard for me to design this poster because I had not seen the movie. In seeing the movie I would be able to understand the plot and which direction my design should go. As it was, I stuck with my gut and tried to encapsulate what I knew of the other movies when creating.
My Design:
- Blood Red theme
- Illustrated mask from the movie's trailer
- Photography from the movie
- skull illustration to represent death
- Clock to represent time
This ended up being the poster that I thought would work the best. I like how it used the clock concept to link the design to the title in a way that wasn't too obvious. I also liked that you can see all the other movie characters in the clock's reflection. It isn't as abstractly creative as my other poster designs, but it looks the most commercial.
Here I think I could work on the typography. It looks too plain and there is a lot of potential to bring in some retro flourishes. However due to the time constraints of this competition this was not an option.
