Wild Reef Exhibit Identity
Work produced while at the John G. Shedd Aquarium, Chicago

The Wild Reef Exhibit was introduced to the aquarium in 2003. The exhibit is told through the story of the phillippines coral reef and identitifies strongly toward the education of conservation. Housed inside the exhibit is a 400,000 gallon shart tank with live coral. Playing off this attraction, the designers used the shark and the predators of the coral reef as the inspiration for branding of the exhibit. Elements of the design were produced throughout the aquarium interior and the exterior in the form of banners, wall graphics, video projections, large inflatables, sidewalk stickers, signage; as well as a 25ft wrapped steel-frame shark cut-out mounted to the front entrance and inflateable shark fins mounted to the rotunda atop the aquarium! Many events for patrons and sponsors were held which included invitations, posters, merchandise, an annual report, commemorative books, bus-wraps, DVD marketing, print and video advertising, illustrated animal indentifiers and animations. The planning and design department was deeply involved with all this as well as initial naming, branding and marketing.
