Mighty Leaf - Tea Packaging Design

For this project I wanted to play around with using humor in the design. I chose to focus on stereotypes associated with different kinds of tea and using them as illustrations on the packaging. That way, the different kinds of tea are easy to recognize - and should also make the consumer smile.
I started by narrowing down the different kinds of tea; focusing on black tea, green tea and herbal tea. Then I defined what the different kinds of tea would look like if they were a person.
For the black tea I associated it with British aristocrats sipping tea in the afternoon. So I chose to create a gentleman with a massive moustache and a bow-tie.
Green tea originated in Asia, which I wanted to portray, as it has only become widespread in the West in recent years. In my mind, I think of it as a hipster-y type of tea to drink, so I wanted my illustration to look like the type of person who works at a tech start-up.
When it came to the herbal tea, I wanted to go full hippie vibes and my illustration to look like the kind of person who grows their own vegetables, hence the overalls.
Thank you for looking!
