The London Canal Museum presents Slow Time by artist Tom White, a multi- channel sound installation commissioned for Emerge Festival 2019. The installation will feature across all public areas of the museum, transforming the unique architectural spaces into a rich sonic environment, plus the former ice well in the basement of the museum. The compositions consist of close-up recordings of ice melting and forming; field recordings from an ice manufacturers and an ice skating rink, along with recordings made on the Regent’s Canal. Recordings were also made site-specifically within the extraordinary architecture of the Victorian ice well. The installation also features extracts from the museum’s vast oral history archive.
