A close angle of Niagara Falls. This is, in my and my teacher's opinion, my best watercolor.

These are watercolors based on the theme of nature- both its beauty and tragedy. The one in the upper-right corner shows the Sundial Bridge, Redding CA, in the midst of 2018's summer fires. The fires came very close to where I live. For more than a few weeks the sky was red and the air thick with smoke. My family and I were blessed to not lose anything or anyone close to us to the fires, but it was a frightening time for everyone.

These watercolors were my slip into delusion as I spent many hours each day painting. Hunger was usually a constant, and it fueled a desire for visually capturing the tastes I pined for.
This collection of watercolors is the result of my time experimenting with the medium. I played with my brushes, tape, and markers to create new effects. I also pushed to see how far I could make a painting appear three-dimensional. The one in the lower right corner was my first attempt at this, inspiration for it taken from the cane spiders that kept me (unwelcome) company in my dorm room. They are related to the Huntsman spider, and are common in Hawaii where I attend college. Needless to say, this painting did not gain me any friends.
Last but not least is my watercolor midterm. We were assigned in my class to paint a cover for a children's book. Many hours were dedicated to create this painting of Jamie, a young farm girl, navigating an alien hovercraft on the terrain of Mars. In the story, she's abducted by aliens while playing outside her house one night, and now is on a mission to get back to Earth. The cover features one of her many attempts at doing so.
