It was one of the hottest days of the year with the temperature near 100 degrees. The Latino Festival on the Waltham Common, always the largest, the most lively and colorful festival of the summer had been prescheduled for this hot, hot day. People had been advised on the previous nightly news to stay in under the protection of air-conditioning, or even to head for the special "cooling facilities" set up in some areas. However, we suspected this very anticipated yearly festival would go on in some fashion. So, not wanting to miss out on our chance for unique photos, we arrived with our cameras, wondering just a bit what we would find. 

What we did find were tents filled with brightly colored stuffed toys, hats, scarves and jewelry; food tents set up under the shade of great trees; a band playing Latin dance music (no dancers this year) and lots of smiling faces. Though the day was very hot and the participants not so many, we left for home feeling we had attended another amazing Latino Festival in Waltham.
