Google's Zukunftswerkstatt (German for "Future Workshop") is a physical training center found in every Google office in Germany. They provide an opportunity to participate in Google's many digital skills education programs under one roof, enabling Germans to sharpen their skills for the digital world. They also represent a physical embodiment of Google while giving the public a space to experience the Google environment first-hand.
We were commissioned to create an art wall to serve as the focal point of the Google Zukunftswerkstatt experience in Hamburg along with accompanying signage and wayfinding. It is a simple yet distinctive artwork, incorporating themes specific to its Hamburg location, the architects' vision for the space, and the Google Zukunftswerkstatt brand.
Our final, hand-painted artwork depicts a condensed, isometric Hamburg landscape with its many famous landmarks, interspersed with quirky details and elements specific to Google Zukunftswerkstatt. Google Maps inspired the perspective and composition of the landscape, subsequently tying together various pieces of the company's portfolio.
The wall has quickly grown to be a visitor favorite and has been regularly featured in numerous photos and social media posts ever since.
