Language of Weaves
As a part of Language of weaves course at Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology, I chose to weave three samples inspired from the mantra “Nam myoho renge kyo" from the topic, “places of worship”. I thought of representing the vibrations of the mantra and its effect on the people who chant it through woven samples.
For this theme, I created a textural, color and pattern gradation. The gradation which symbolizes abstractly the effect of chanting this mantra on people who are in pain and suffering, who as a result of practicing these chants are able to find solace inside themselves, are able to find the Buddha inside them, which eventually helps them deal with their own problems.
In all my samples, textures move from dark to light, representing the calming and magical effect of chanting this mantra. All the weaves that I chose represent vibrations through their rhythmic look.
