Many times, people with schizophrenia hear or see things that are not there or think that others can read their mind, control their thoughts or conspire to harm them. This can terrify them and turn them into withdrawn or extremely agitated people.
Movement disorders can appear as agitated movements of the body, some of which recur over and over again. At the other extreme, a person with movement disorder can become catatonic. Catatonia is a state in which a person does not move and does not respond to others. Nowadays, catatonia is rare, but it was more common when there were no treatments for schizophrenia.
Thought disorders are unusual or dysfunctional ways of thinking. One of those forms is called "disorganized thinking". This happens when a person has difficulty organizing their thoughts or connecting them logically, and can speak in a confusing and difficult to understand way.
