Dawn Emerson Reverse Pastel and Ink Portrait

DAWN EMERSON PASTEL PROJECT

using techniques inspired and demonstrated by a visit from Dawn Emerson, a photograph was "reverse painted"

quick thumbnails: graphite was first applied then, using a kneaded eraser, was taken away to "draw" the face
using various mark making tools, the clay board was first scratched away at. Then, sumi ink painted on and let dry. Again, using the mark making tools from before (such as a xacto knife) the ink was then scratched away at to "reverse paint" the portrait. Afterwards, pastel was applied to enhance the portrait.
