E-Commerce Fashion typically uses a combination of "on-figure" and "flat" shots, meaning images of the garments on and off the model.
Flats can be a simple laydown or pin-up style shot, or a composite of multiple images to create a "ghost mannequin."

The retoucher builds a final composite image from these photo files, removing distracting wrinkles, correcting the silhouette, adjusting color, and revealing construction and decorative features to accurately communicate the garment visually to the customer.
