삼성미술관 Leeum은 올해로 개관 10주년을 맞이하였다. 1965년 삼성문화재단 창립 이래 한국과 외국미술을 소장하고 전시해 온 삼성미술관은 2004년 한국 고미술, 현대미술, 그리고 외국 현대미술을 아우르는 리움을 개관하였다. 리움 개관 10주년을 기념하여 기획된 이번 전시는 상설 전시실 MUSEUM 1(M1)과 MUSEUM 2(M2), 기획전시실과 로비 등 미술관 전체를 '교감(交感)'이라는 하나의 주제로 구성하였다.

한국 고미술 상설 전시실 M1은 '시대교감(時代交感)'을 주제로, 우리 고미술의 대표적 소장품과 현대미술 작품을 함께 전시하여 시간을 초월한 예술 작품 간의 교감을 시도하였다. 현대미술 상설 전시실 M2에서는 동시대 미술의 동양과 서양간 예술적 교감을 '동서교감(東西交感)'이라는 주제로 다루었다. 한편, 기획전시실에서는 '관객교감(觀客交感)'을 주제로 하여 소통과 참여를 극대화하는 작품들을 전시함으로써, 관람객과의 소통이 점차 중요해지는 현대미술과 미술관 문화의 변화를 담아내고자 하였다.

This year, Leeum Samsung Museum of Art celebrates the tenth anniversary of its foundation. Since the establishment of Samsung Foundation in 1965, Samsung Museum of Art has collected and exhibited art from Korea and abroad while operating exhibition spaces such as Hoam Art Museum, Hoam Gallery, and Rodin Gallery (later renamed PLATEAU). In 2004, Leeum found a permanent home in Hannam-dong for its collection, consisting of traditional and contemporary art from Korea and global contemporary art, and became a true full-scale art museum.

Curated around the theme, “Beyond and Between,” this exhibition presents a wide selection of works from the museum’s collection, spanning the prehistoric to the Joseon period in terms of traditional Korean art, modern and contemporary Korean art from the beginning of Western influence to pre- and postwar periods, and global contemporary art. The goal of the exhibition is to encourage visitors to explore the possibilities for new understandings and interpretations of our beloved works and to showcase Leeum’s curatorial vision.
