'Connecting the Past and the Future' Exhibition

This assignment required us to design an invitation and two posters featuring two artists (contemporary and old) sharing a fictional exhibition called "Connecting the Past and the Future." The artists I've decided to use are Stefan Sagmeister and Tibor Kalman.
I chose Sagmeister because absolutely love his work. The way how he manages to make type out of anything always amazes me. I decided to use that approach when making this poster. I used the wooden clothes pins to represent the past aspect of the exhibition, and I used the plastic to represent the future. Knowing Sagmeister, he would have probably had the entire thing made out of clothes pins. I was running low on resources so I used what I had. To get this image, I laid out the clothes pins on my living room floor and stood on a chair to get this photo. Once I got the photo, I took it into Photoshop and added the other necessary details regarding the event.
Tibor Kalman's work had a certain aura about it that I really admire. I can't quite put my finger on it. The inspiration for this poster, came from his work at M&Co and Colors Magazine. He had very bold imagery in his work from M&Co. so that's where the clock came into play. Additionally, because Kalman  is most notable for his work at Colors Magazine, I changed the 'O' to match the 'O' in Colors to pay homage to him.
For the invitation, I just took the too main elements from my posters above (clothes pins and the 'O') and merged them. I put the O's to a greyscale to keep within the past theme.
Lastly, we were to create a catalogue for the exhibition. I kept the same motif of using the O's and the clothes pins for the cover.
