Symphonia Festiva X: Adelante, The New Beginning
This is a project that is dear to my heart, as it was one of my earliest forays into digital design using Adobe software. While it provided me with a golden opportunity to unleash my creativity and discover my passion for design, it was an extremely challenging process, and many late nights were spent attempting to perfect (or rather, fix) everything.
Symphonia Festiva is the largest annual event of Singapore Management University's school orchestra. In 2016, this concert was attended by close to 600 audiences as we celebrated the 10th anniversary of our (then) band. As the Marketing Director in that year, here are some of the marketing materials I created:
Concert Posters
Adelante, The New Beginning- the rationale behind this name was that our symphonic band was scheduled to be merged with the string ensemble to form a full fledged orchestra, marking a new era for both clubs. I chose an overarching theme of the luminaries (Sun, Waning Moon and Stars) to reflect the spiritual nature of the pieces arranged for the concert, and to symbolically represent the start of a new journey through the transition from night sky to a radiant sunrise.
Concert Ticket
Now I'm not sure why the waning moon in the poster became a waxing moon on the ticket. Probably to create aesthetic balance, but definitely a newbie mistake here. Oops.
Concert Booklet
What are bleed lines? In my zest to create a booklet like none other, I gave our club manager and the printing company a heart attack by completely disregarding printing guidelines (see pages 8-15), and placing the concert repertoire in the middle of two pages. I wanted to challenge the conventional programme booklet layout, which typically puts the concert programme outline on one of the first few pages, as I personally dislike having to flip back and forth throughout the concert to find out which piece is being played/are coming up next.
Fortunately, the "spread" effect turned out perfectly due to the amazing skills and experience of our printing partner :)
