Advertising Campaign
Attack of the Butts is a series of campaign posters advertising the dangers of cigarette butt pollution. Used cigarette are improperly disposed of every day causing serious problems for people, animals, and the environment. The project involved the creation of an original campaign idea that would help bring more attention, inform the hazards, and promote organizations that properly dispose of cigarette butts.
The design was inspired by horror comic book covers that scare but entice the audience into reading. Thus, the cigarettes transformed into zombie-like monsters roaming the environment and slowly attacking the world. Each ‘Zombie Butt’ is destroying an environment where they are commonly found and produce the most problems; i.e. forest fires, water pollution, and city pollution. The illustrations are extremely detailed to show the terrifying and intense circumstances cigarette littering brings. The logotype parodies typical horror comic book titles, while the taglines playfully reference the ironic truth about the issues. The project displays unconventional but effective advertising aids that grab the audience’s attention easily.
