STORY BOARD AND ILLUSTRATIONS

The following project revolved around the contemporization of an already existing movie and creating two newer or similar characters for whom, two new costumes were to be designed. The first part of this project was to create a story board, where the story remains more or less the same, so does the plot, but the locations, colours, type, genre, etc could be changed and depicted. The movie to be compared was Asoka, 26th October 2001. In my version of the story, I took inspiration from the Greek Gods itself. The two characters I changed were of the two female leads and I drew comparison for the both of them to two wives of Lord Poseidon, namely, Aphrodite and Amphitrite. Lord Poseidon (Lord of the Ocean, Brother of Lord Zeus) has been compared to Asoka himself here. All three characters have been drawn into a comparison not only based on their status and relations, but their story is rather similar and so are their characteristics and personalities.
STORY BOARD AND ILLUSTRATION 1
All though both the story boards have been made together, the major difference between them is of the colour and what it depicts. Here we get to see the goddess of beauty, Aphrodite in her true form. Pink displays beauty and feminine features that are floral and sophisticated. The story board as well, shows elements of femininity and how subtle and pleasant the goddess might be. The colour palette has also been displayed differently.
ILLUSTRATION 1
It is noticed that the dress is rather flowy and her weapon of choice is not very dangerous. It shows a wholesome structure and makes her look princessy and sweet.
STORY BOARD AND ILLUSTRATION 2
In the second part of the story board and illustration, it is clear that the colour blue is very dominant. Amphitrite is displayed as a bolder and solid character. She is the Goddess of the Ocean and the true wife of Lord Poseidon. Within her resides power to all, and the strength to conquer. The colour blue depicts the depth of things and it is portrayed in the story board with several other elements specific to The Goddess of the Ocean.
ILLUSTRATION 2
The first and most specific feature is her crown, that shows how much of a true queen she is. She looks in command, and her weapon of choice also shows how dangerous she is. Her costume is designed in such a way to show that she isnt afraid of anything and is bold enough to try something new, powerful and elegant.
