"Storm on Tasman Sea"
Captured from a sailing boat close to Tasmania (Australia). Not the best conditions to take a photo :-)
Camera: Canon EOS 550D, shutter speed 1/200, aperture 9.0, ISO-100, Kit lens 18-55mm.
"Bahamas, Rum Cay Marina Jetty"
Rum Cay is a very charming and quiet small island in Bahamas. Not many sailboats visit this place. Every hurricane does a lot of damage to the small Sumner Point Marina, but it always survives.
Camera Kodak Easyshere M532, f/8.2, 1/320 sec, ISO-64.
"Two Elements"
Captured in Nelson, New Zealand.
Camera Canon PowerShot S5 IS, f/8, exposure time 1/500 sec., ISO 400, focal length 72 mm, max aperture 3.6.
"Sundown Serenity"
Captured in Compass Cay Marina, Exuma Cays, Bahamas. Compass Cay is a small, private island in the Outer Exumas, just south of the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park. I have visited Compass Cay on the sailboat, and could walk freely around the island. Every day the marina workers feed the nurse sharks, which are in a big amount there.
Camera Nikon D600, f/8, 1/100 sec, ISO 125, exposure +0.3 step, focal lenght 28 mm, aperture 3.6, lens Nikkor VR 28-300mm.
"Red Sails"
When sailing around Tasmania (Australia), it was a very special moment to pass the majestic Cape Raoul.
Camera: Canon EOS 550D, f/10, exposure 1/200 sec, ISO-100, focal length 55 mm, kit lens 18-55mm.
"Relaxing After Sail Trip"
Sailing canoe captured in Papua New Guinea, Louisiade Archipelago, Nirvani Is. with Olympus TG-810, f/11, exposure 1/125 sec, ISO-80, aperture 3.9.
Residents in the more remote islands of the Louisiade Archipelago rely heavily at the present on this sailing canoes (sailau in the local Misima language) as a basic means of transport. Sailing canoes are used to move between islands, to transport goods and cargo, and to access fishing grounds.
The planked canoes vary in length from 4–12 m and carry a single outrigger. The larger canoes are substantial, seaworthy craft, able to carry five or more crew plus freight, and are capable of long-distance voyages when handled by experienced sailors.
