Fighting stereotypes in women's rugby

I am a diagnostic radiographer. The local hospital I work at primarily treats cancer patients. I take images of the human body with x-rays, MRI and CT scanners. I love that I get to combine my love of photography with science and helping people”.

I look after my plants because a bit of greenery is good for you but the soil in the garden is too hard to do anything with! I would love to be a florist. I love flowers and I'm not rich enough to have my house full of them so arranging them for other people would be amazing. It's also another way to be creative which I love”.

“I like finding new things and documenting memories through photography. I also enjoy editing photos to see what you can get out of a boring looking photo. I would like to be an investigator looking at both internal and external fraud in retail”.

5 years ago I started my own business as a piano teacher for people in the local area, and I teach lots of children at my kid’s school. I learnt to play the piano when I was 12, but I stopped when I went to university. I took it up again later on when I was in my 30s”.

“I started lifeguard training about 4 years ago. I'd been a competitive club swimmer beforehand and then looked to getting a job for the summer holidays from university, lifeguarding seemed the obvious option given my skill set. My role involves monthly training including CPR, first aid and pool rescue practice. This means if there is a problem in the pool, or anywhere else in the club, I must respond to help with first aid/ rescues. All aspects of my role involve customer interaction, which is why I love the job. I enjoy meeting new people and helping them to have the best visit possible. I also have a fantastic group of colleagues who make each shift fun and different”.

“I am finishing my master in Intellectual Property Law this year, I study in London full-time. I enjoy studying as I am in a small class which means we can all work on things together. I also find the topic really interesting, I hope to that the masters will help me to land my dream job which would be an in-house attorney for both trademarks and patents for a company”!

“I work for the National Autistic Society supporting adults with autism. I have always been fascinated by behaviour. Studying Sociology at university only furthered my passion. Helping the people I support to work towards the most independent life they can have is a privilege. It is highly rewarding to see people succeed in achieving their dreams and ambitions, no matter how big or small they may be. My dream job would be an Educational Psychologist, helping to catch early signs of issues in young people, so that they can access early intervention strategies and feel supported in all their endeavors”.

“In my personal life I am a massive Harry Potter geek. It started when my father bough and read the books with me as a child. Reading has always been a passion for me. The world that J.K. Rowling had created is captivating. It's nice at the end of a stressful day to lose yourself in a world of fantasy”.
Lydia
I research ecology and evolutionary biology because it fascinates me and I think it's important to understand more about it especially with regards to climate change! My dream at the moment is to earn a PhD and a long term working career in academic research”.
