HANNAH AMUNDSON's profile

DESIGN & PATTERNMAKING - Tailored Mini Collection

This project was a 5 student collaboration where each of us chose a major fashion city, a key mood of that city, and a classic eveningwear element to modernize. We were all designing under one fashion "house", which we named Paradigm, and had to collaborate to keep our collections within the spirit of this house. My city was London and the mood was "Deconstructed". I decided to reinterpret the classic men's suit because of the origin of Bespoke Tailoring on Saville Row. My result was a collection of unexpected silhouettes with menswear detail elements merged with feminine cuts.

2020 update:
Humorously, I was actually approved to take this class before having taken any technical pattern-making courses, because I was selected in a small group of students to go to SCAD's Hong Kong campus to launch the fashion program there. I'm actually very surprised these garments turned out as well as they did. It was still one of my most stressful and fun experiences from college, and definitely prepared me for working in the real world - where you find yourself constantly in situations that require you to "fake it till you make it", and stressing collaboration as a key part of working as a designer in the industry.
