Adjustment Panel

Before:
After:
This is a picture of a beach in Cape Cod. I used the adjustment panel to change the brightness, contrast, exposure, hue, and saturation. This brought out the colors in the sky and the water and completely transformed the picture. These edits added pink to the sky, highlighting the sunset.

Highlight and Shadows

Before:
After:
The image shown is from a restaurant I go to for dinner with my family on the way home from the beach. I used the highlight and shadow tool adjust the colors in the picture. By increasing the highlights and shadows, the colors became more intense. This completely transformed the picture by making the colors pop.

Filter

Before:
After:
This picture was taken in Tucson, Arizona, on a family vacation. This sunset had a natural yellow glow across the entire sky. Using the filter tool, I added a color filter. This enhanced the degree of yellow in the sky. The added yellow defined the shape of the clouds and added more contrast between the clouds and the sky.

Smudge

Before:
After:
This is another picture of the sunset from a beach in Cape Cod. I used the smudge tool to edit the picture. The smudge tool blurred and blended the sky together. The colors in the sky are reflected in the wave. This directs the focus of the image to the wave in the center of the image.

Adjustment Layers

Before:
After:
I used the adjustment layers tool to edit this image. The image is from a family vacation in Maui, Hawaii. The adjustment layers tool changed the levels and increased the contrast. It added a layer over the image to adjust the levels and contrast of the sky and water.

Patch Tool

Before:
After:
This image was taken at Kayleigh’s beach house over the summer. In the original, there was a green sunspot. Using the patch tool, I was able to remove this sunspot. The sunspot distracted the viewer redirected the focus to the imperfections in the photo. Using the patch tool allowed me to fill the area in to match the leggings color.

Dodge Tool

Before:
After:
This sunset was photographed in Kauai, Hawaii, also on a family vacation. By using the dodge tool, the sky was whitened. By whitening the sky, the focus point of the image changed from the sky to the sun. It also provides more contrast between the dark water and light sky.

Blending Modes

Before:
After:
Using the blending modes, I combined two images. The first image was an original, taken in Sedona Arizona. The second (not an original) image is a rainbow over a field. The blending modes combined these two images, creating an entirely new picture of a rainbow over a sunset.

Color Replacement Tool

Before:
After:
This picture was photographed in a pool in Maui, Hawaii. I used two tools to edit this image. The first is the crop tool. The crop tool was used to remove my finger which covered part of the photo. The second tool I used was the color replacement tool. The color of the pool was changed to create a more apparent contrast between the colors in the pool and the ocean.

Warp

Before:
After:
My last photo was of a sunset over the red rocks in Sedona, Arizona. To edit this photo, I warped the image and increased the brightness and contrast. Warping the image changed the shape of the horizon. Increasing the contrast and brightness enhanced the coloring of the photo and made the colors more intense.
