Scale 1 "

Technique
This image was made through photography with Nikon D40x camera, using Legos and my garden.

Process and Reasoning
For the “scale” concept I used Lego to create a scene with a story. I placed the three Lego beings climbing up a rock with one Lego being holding a lightsaber. Then I took multiple shots from different angles and chose the most visually appealing image. The Lego beings looks as if they are in a forest, which was purposely implied in order to emphasise scale. I used fast shutter speed as the photograph was taken handheld without a tripod, therefore I wanted to have minimal shaking.

Reflection
I was satisfied with the result as , despite of it being handheld there is no evidence of movement and shaking in the photo. Through this activity I was able to practice photography skills. I was able to be satisfied with the chosen photograph as it was the best one out of multiple photographs.
“Scale 2”

Technique
This image was made through photography with Nikon D40x camera, using Toy cars and my garden.

Process and reasoning
After the Lego photographs, I wanted to continue with this kind of theme, therefore I used toy cars instead with a different setting within my garden. I took multiple photos of the toy cars on the pile of  bark, and chose this photo as I was satisfied with the natural lighting, composition and how it is focused on the subject (foreground) and blurry in the background. This photography was also handheld therefore I manipulated the shutter speed for minimal shaking. I chose the toy cars as it looked so real on the bark.

Reflection
I enjoyed creating these scenes with scale as it was visually interesting and unique, I will definitely consider this style for future projects.
“Scale 3”

Technique
Photography with iPhone 6. Photo manipulation with Adobe Photoshop.

Process and Reasoning
Instead of physically creating scale I wanted to express scale with photo manipulation. I chose to take separate photos of my brother, Legos and background to juxtapose this image. I completed this image with Photoshop. I chose to create a scene of my brother fighting Lego beings on the edge of our balcony, as I thought it would be a unique approach to “scale” and I wanted to make the interaction with my brother and his Lego toys realistic.

Reflection
I thought this work was meaningful especially for my brother as it expresses his childhood. I believe the skills that were required in making this image will be useful for week 9’s image manipulation task.
Light painting 1 “

Technique
Light painting was used and photo taken with Nikon D40x camera.

Process and Reasoning
I chose to do light painting to express the theme "light". After learning how to light paint, I captured my first light painting photograph, which I wanted to include in my portfolio. I wanted to use this as a comparison to the final light painting photo that will be included in this series. I wanted to be abstract with the movement of the light, which was created by the model creating the movements with an iphone.

Reflections
I thought light painting was an interesting and useful skill to learn. I enjoyed practicing photography skills within this assessment.
