As Scene In New York
Illustration senior thesis project
For my final illustration project as a Communication Design major at the Sam Fox School of Art and Design at Washington University in St. Louis, I created an enormous map of New York City drawn entirely by hand. Each areas of the city however, was depicted with scenes from notable works of fiction across film and literature that took place approximately in that location. This took well over 200 hours to complete.
(Fun fact: the most common question I get about this project is asking why Stark Tower is missing—interestingly enough, The Avengers movie came out within just a few days of my thesis exhibition. Inevitably, more scenes that would make great additions come out every year—one day, I have a goal to make a completely updated version.)
