Ellis Island – Das Tor zur Freiheit

Ellis Island – Das Tor zur Freiheit (The Gate to Freedom)
In the past two years, immigration has been an important topic very much present in today's world. Due to conflicts in many parts of the world, thousands of people have been fleeing their countries seeking asylum. Needless to say, most nations were not prepared to receive so many asylum seekers in such a short period of time.

To prepare my Bachelor thesis, I have travelled and done extensive research regarding the processing of immigrants on Ellis Island. I have written and created the layout for my book about Ellis Island, which was one of the first immigration stations for thousands of immigrants arriving from Europe. These individuals came to the shores of America searching for a safe haven. Just like today, many people are taking risks to venture into new lands that may offer a safer way of living. However, they have no way of knowing whether they will be accepted or denied access into the new land.

The Bob Hope Memorial Research Library on Ellis Island provided me with the necessary information and pictures for my book.
