I AM AFRAID- Zine Design

I AM AFRAID
This is a design for a zine on the topic of "I AM AFRAID" which is poem written by one of my friend Arushi Agrawal. The poem talks about the feelings of the narrator ( a girl ) about the things happening around the world, getting lost in them and there being a possibility of hope. Because of this nature of the poem, and the emotions it represents,
I took inspiration from expressionism  to create the zine.
The grey-scale colour scheme of the zine has been chosen to supplement the mood of the text. The font used is Bookman old style, a Clarendon Serif font for the zine, as it is a suitable font for body copy. It is a little visually heavy which worked well with the amount of text on the page. The title is in Boolk Antiqua, an old style serif font. This font maintained continuity with the rest of the zine, as both font used were serif fonts.
Throughout the zine I have followed a triangular grid, and arranged the text in such a way that that even though it followed a grid, it was still dynamic and showed movement and rhythm. Along with rhythm, I have attempted to create a balance between the illustrations and the text, and a simple visual hierarchy, where the viewer will see the face of the girl repetitively, before moving to the other contents of the page.
