Trak Gray's profile

The Electric Queen

The Electric Queen was spawned in response to a Colab Studio 4 brief, titled Object Performance, which asked participants to draw inspiration from Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and Through the Looking-Glass (1871), and create an outcome that explores the performative elements of an object, or objects. Gray’s approach was inspired by the caricatural aspect of Carroll’s work, and he turned to drag as a format through which he could explore caricature in an unconventional and innovative way. The resulting outcome serves as a playful commentary on the role of expensive, high powered smartphones as fashion accessories in modern society.
