KINGS CROSS: IMAGINING THE UNIVERSITY

KINGS CROSS
Imagining the University
Kings Cross, situated at the core of London is an urban site currently under redevelopment. It is an area that not long ago was ripe with the stench of prostitution, drug abuse and other crime. Over the years Kings Cross has has slowly undergone changes and turned itself around. Now, Kings Cross is a bustling centre of education, commerce and transportation. With the development of St. Pancras International station, Kings Cross establishes itself as the main link between France and Great Britain. Another recent and positive development in the area is relocation of the Central Saint Martins university. The relocation of the university from Soho to Kings Cross has brought about a burst of intellectuals and artists to this part of the city. Thus Kings Cross has established itself as a thriving creative hub.

My aim within my project 'Imagining the University' is to take the disciplines of sculpture and fashion, merge them, take them out of the university confines, and expose them to the general public of Kings Cross. The idea behind this is to encourage the everyday public and the students to interact and exchange knowledge through observing each other.
