Icons and Emblems
capturing a concept in a single image
The Interpretive Toolbox
The title of a column My wife and I once did for small re-enactment newsletter.  The focus was on practical techniques of historical interpretation, and I wanted to evoke my wife's sewing and my experience at the  forge. The artwork was done in monochrome for the newsletter and color for the web.
Navigational Icons
Icons for a costumer's web site, highlighting the genres of costuming in which she worked. The icons would most often be used without the text which accompanies them here.
Logotype Design
Self-directed design for a paintball retailer. This was done in the early days of paintball, and I wanted to focus on the paintball itself instead of the marker pistol, which was becoming a controversi controvercial subject at the time.
"Realm of Imagination" thumbnails
Years ago there was a small gaming store near me named "realm of Imagination". Just for my own amusement, I played around with representing that concept graphically, and am still generally pleased with the results. This is my sheet of rough sketches, some of which were eventually reused in other projects.

Icons and Emlems

I prefer an Icon or Logo to carry as much information and clarity as possible within the confines a a small image.
