The camera is an instrument that preserves and conserves the memory, it creates an alternate reality and it also stops time, acting like a mirror of the human condition. I used the pinhole photograph technique to create a series of five photographs exploring the self-portrait and its qualities. I am highly interested in the human body theme in photography and in the way the pinhole camera captures it. A photo attribute that I used was the distortion of the forms, obtaining an exaggeration of some parts of the body and minimizing others. The pinhole camera allows to capture movements in the photographed objects, therefore, perceiving a less static image. The camera I used in my photographic project is constructed by me, using recycled material and black & white photographic paper. I completed the photo processing myself in a darkroom.
