This is one of the posters that inspired me when creating my own poster. I love the way they have layered the pictures of the scissors untop of each other. This gives the poster more of an effect. I love the use of different colours and how the bold red really stands out. I love how the image is the main point of this poster and makes the whol poster stand out.
This is another poster that has really inspired me. This poster inspired me to put a photo behind my title and writing. The colour and brightness of this photo has been lowered which is what I done to my own poster. This helps show the writing more clearly and the title can be seen easier. It also makes the poster more interesting and not as plane.
This is the picture I used for the background of my poster. I loved the way it shows Belfast in the olden days and some of the history of Belfast. I this photo it shoes Royal Avenue which leads on to Belfast City Hall. This is where I decided I was going to hold my event as it is in the centre of Belfast and is well known. As my event is all about history I thought it would also fit in well with the theme as Belfast City Hall is a part of Belfast.
This is Belfast City Hall where my event will take place.
When I inserted my picture I wasnt happy with the way the picture was so dark as I knew the writting wouldnt be as clear. So I went onto photoshop and changed the brightness and the contrast of the picture. This made the text easier to read and the picture wasnt as bold but still easy to make out.
I then went onto add text to my poster. I added text by hitting the "T" symbol on the tool bar. I then created a text box to add my text in. I made the text box as big as I wanted so all my text would fit in. In the text I gave all the information that the public would need to know to attend my event. I changed the text about to fit in with the poster and made sure it was easy to read and professional.
Next I created the title for my poster. I made it a font that was bold and easy to read. I believe that this title will catch peoples eye and people will lift the poster and read what I have created.
The final thing I included in this poster was a picture of a vintage sewing machine. As I included in my text there will be vintage sewing machines on show at the event so I thought I should show an image of one. I added this image in by opening the photo of the sewing machine on photoshop and then copying and pasting it into indesign where my poster was, I then added a shawdow to the photo which made the picture look almost 3D. I like the effect that the photo has on my poster. If I could change anything I would try and take away the white background of the picture so it would blend in with the background of the poster. This is my poster completed.
This is my final poster. I created this poster by using InDesign and photoshop. I firstly start creating this poster by chosing what my poster was going to be about. I came to the decision that I wanted to create a day for people to come and see how sewing was invented and when the first ever sewing machine was made. I also wanted to show of vintage garements and the techniques that they use to use back in the day.
Evaluation:

I enjoyed creating this poster. I like my theme and think my pictures and information mix in well together. I have included pictures to do with Belfast and showing its history. If I could add anyting to my poster I would add in a sketched pictrue and scan it in to include in my picture. We were given four questions to answer when we had our final poster completed. The first question we were asked was "Why does the chosen work represent the best outcome of the options you could have developed?" When I first started creating my poster I was going to include a number of photos. However when I started creating the poster I decided I wanted to keep my poster more simple and not as cluttered. I came to the decision that I was only going to have one photo as my background. It also worked out well that my poster is about the history of sewing and I was able to find an historic photo of Belfast. The next question I was asked was "How does your work compare with the professional work you researched?" I believe that I was really inspired by the work that I researched. However the poster that I created is a lot different than the ones I researched. The ones that I researched have less writing in them and don't seem to actually advertise anything. Another question that I was asked is "What were the constraints and difficulties you encountered?" Some of the problems that I encountered where that I struggled working photoshop. I overcome this problem by using another programme called InDesign. This is basically the same as photoshop but InDesign made it so much easier. There was columns that made it easier to line up my text boxes, titles and photo. The final question that I was asked was "How could you have improved the process or outcome?" If I could improve my poster I would add in more information. I would also maybe make my poster stand out a lot more and include bolder colours and make my title stand out more.
