FLOWERS are aesthetically pleasing and can smell amazing, but no flower lasts forever. Although some flowers can appear to last a long time, all flowers go through stages of decay. This is part of the plant's natural reproductive process; once the flowers has been pollinated, the plant no longer needs the flower and focuses its energies on seed production. Understanding the processes of senescence or decay is useful for catching the flowers at their peak.
