The Brief _ The brief stated that for this project I had to develop and design a new corporate identity for your own graphic design enterprise. This includes a logo, letterhead, business card, quote form, fax form, portfolio cd cover and promotional items. The brief further stated that it is very important to utilize your own and unique design style and that it reflects your personality. Furthermore this project had to include different pieces of stationery and branding.
The Concept _ My concept focuses on the following statement: I am hardworking and keep it short and sweet and to the point. The whole project centers around the fact that I am not afraid to say something as it is. As a designer I have two sides: I am a structured designer in terms of layout, typography, time management and attention to detail and a quirky designer in terms of content, approach, color palette and tone of voice. The project is executed in Afrikaans, because I make use of idioms to state the facts as they are. Therefore I have a lot to offer as a designer and I can take on any challenge.
The Name _ BITTEREINDERMOED, is a tongue-in-cheek reference to the meaning of my name; Mariska, meaning ‘bitter’ and to the fact that I am hardworking. Therefore the combination of the two, gave me the name for my enterprise. This name implies that I have a lot to offer as I keep on working till the end.
