This was how the seal looked when I first started in 2009. 

An initiative in 2013 led to a desire to rebrand the seal and our mission. Ultimately it was decided to keep the seal the same... though I definitely wanted to clean it up. Starting with the compass, I cleaned up the lines and gave it more weight and a better sense of cohesiveness. The colors were altered to create a richer, warmer seal. It does still remind me of ketchup and mustard though. 

n 2015, with a new Secretary and a new Administration, the agency decided to update its look. I was tasked wth the creation of the new seal though the general layout and color of the design was already decided. I submitted many variations. 

The final seal approved for use for the Florida Department of Corrections.
