In this project I wanted to capture mystery and ambiguity in an image that focused on Surrealism. The style of the photographs have a dream-like quality to try to portray Sigmund Freud's work on the mind and the unconscious. I began the project by investigating Surrealist art and specifically the work of the artist Magritte, whose placement of irregular objects in abnormal positions led me to investigate the idea of falling.
To further the Surrealism in my images I investigated into artificially flooding my sitting room on Photoshop and creating eerie lighting, influenced by Gregory Crewdson's cinematicly lit photographs.
I cumulated my ideas in my final image to create a figure falling into a flooded room covered in a purple cloud like texture. I really like the mystery and ambiguity of the disturbing effect of depicting recognisable objects in alien settings by startling juxtapositions.
