Design selected for the website and poster of Pitzer's 2015 Kohoutek Festival

Design Submission Explanation

This 2015 Kohoutek Design is intended as a tribute to the astronomical origins of Pitzer’s most epic music festival. It serves as a reminder of the vastness of the space around us and the need to be grounded in the present through music, art & playful festivities. The two moon shapes in the design are the moon phases that will be visible in the night skies of 4.25.2015 and 4.25.2015. The dots scattered around the design are the accurate positioning of the stars & planets in the April night sky. The large circle around Kohoutek represents the comet as is hurls towards Earth, blocking our vision of the sky.
