First Chair Magazine is a mock periodical for females who are a fan of the action sports world. As a female athlete myself, I experience first hand how women are misrepresented the industry. This magazine aims to fill that niche. For the inside layout, I specifically chose an article written by a woman author, Kristina Nayden.

 

Here I combined many different traditional art techniques with digital ones as well to create a cover that would not get lost among others on the shelf. I ultimately decided to use pink as the highlight color for the inaugural issue to speak to the connotations of male vs female color associations.
