As CEO of Hawaii Island Air, Dave Pflieger's career has brought numerous successes since his early days in the U.S. Air Force, where he received a medal for saving a B-52 Bomber and its crew by commanding an evacuvation after spotting a fire the crew was not aware of. Other hallmarks of Dave Pflieger's career include his role in helping launch Air Pacific, a Fiji-based airline. The airline rebranded itself as Fiji Airways in mid-2013 and, as a commemoration of the event, adopted the Airbus A330 as its trademark aircraft.
