This was a collaborative design in which my fellow group members and I recreated 2 different scenes from the King Kong film (2005). The miniaturized set is composed of 3 different segments. The first is a cover to the set. It is a distressed map of skull island that a group member created using a simple yellow tinted poster board, speciality inks, and various other distressing effects. The next scene is the cast and crew arriving to Skull Island on a ship. Installation foam was used to create he skull mountains and strategic cutting to create the skull like effect. The boat is composed of different types of board and placed together to create the formation of the boat. Silicon was used to create the faux water. To finish it all off detail faux finishes are applied with various highlights and shadows. The final scene show King Kong on top of the Empire State building. A fellow group member sculpted out King Kong to scale and the rest of the background scene was created after.
