I’m definitely a big fan of pixel art. Whether they’re found in paintings, furniture, housewares, or costumes, pixels play a crucial role in todays tech driven world where our virtual presence is more keenly felt than in real life .
Japanese designer Kunihiko Morinaga took inspiration from the squared-off pixel block to create his F/W 2011 collection, which includes shoes with pixel heels, pixelated prints on on jackets, sweaters and slacks.
But my favorite part of the collection isn’t the clothing. It’s the pixel furniture, which includes a pair of awesome blocky armchairs, a matching café table, and a pixel-patterned Oriental rug.
Inspired by these tiny building blocks of the online universe, i have conceptualised and created a corset dress with jacket .
THEME BOARD
MOOD BOARD - The scattering of pixel bring to mind a confused and agitated mood,hence i have tried to collect visuals that evoke similar emotions. The mismatched elements,clashing colours,prints and textures along with avant-garde artistic influences ultimately come together in a way which inspires me to find order within the chaos and from there emerges my design ..

FINAL GARMENT - Keeping in mind the theme and inspiration, the silhoutte of the jacket is designed . Due to the scattering of pixels i've given this square-cut in the hem line of the jacket along with the pixel-panelled corset dress .
