Stereotypes Of Type

The Brief: Explore the idea of stereotypes.

The Concept: As a designer we use stereotypes everyday. We use them everytime we give a product a target audience, or aim a piece of work at a certain 'type' of person. We also use type everyday, each font has a different connotation and its form these that we determine what we use them for. There are some fonts that have negative stereotypes *cough* comics sans *cough*. I want to subvert these stereotypes and help peolpe use type correctly.

The Solution: I created a book that will help teach people the correct way to use certain type faces. I have focused on type faces that have certain negativity against them. On the inside of the pages, there is a perferated edge. This enables to you to tear away the stereotype and take away the knowledge of the correct way to use the type face.
The book is meant to be a bit of a designers joke. Each font personified and given unlikeable qualities. Therfore I have tried to keep it quite light hearted, I have done this in the little details.
Thank you!
