Seamstresses of Patdi

As the young women gathered around me, we all learnt the basics of of pattern making, while also brushing up already known facts about handling cloth and stitching prerequisites. With a handful of sewing machines, some needles, tape and meters of fabric, these ladies created simple silhouettes. They asked to learn how to make detailings like patchwork, fagotting, pleating, and chinese collar: all very common to us, but new to them..
As the days progressed, we had a few sessions on understanding the colour wheel and its permutaions and combinations. I also briefed them about how to make the best usage of patterned fabric with solids..

Below are the skilled women with their creations, who also in turn taught me a thing or two about life.
