Burnham-On-Sea Low Lighthouse

I took this shot in late summer whilst doing a whistle stop tour of the Somerset coast, captured late in the day with the setting sun showing off the structure of the lighthouse. The region is well known for its huge tidal range (second largest in the world only to parts of Canada) which can be treacherous if you stray too far. Happily the low lighthouse on Burnham sands is fairly high up the beach so no great risk of getting stuck in the sinking sands or oozing mud! With the high lighthouse now a residential dwelling the low lighthouse remains in use to this day, the only one in the country to be so.
A single exposure image taken with a small aperture to create the classic starburst effect on the setting sun, with a touch of processing in Photoshop to increase dynamic range and balance colours and contrast.
