ABOUT

Fudge VFX is a research project, undertaken to explore the possible application of viral marketing approaches to design outcomes. Content for comedy VFX videos was informed by secondary research, and each was released in accordance to specific, but varying best practice recommendations for achieving maximum reach and shareabilty.

“Fudge the Dog- Ice Bucket Challenge” achieved viral status and was featured in national press, it currently has over 17,000,000 hits on Facebook, with 500,000 likes and 350,000 shares. Other videos in the series thus far, have Facebook views in the double and treble thousands and have featured in online, radio and print media by local, national and international press sources. Youtube views range from several thousand to several hundred thousand.

ANALYSIS
 
Each video was analysed in order to idetify factors resulting shareability success or failure:
- Gateway users were found to be key influencers in the videos which achieved a high degree of shareability. 
- Likewise, videos which provoked debate amongst viewers appeared to result in much greater sharing.
- Emotive content therefore appeared to prompt interaction.
- Launch timing seemed relevant in success, with afternoon of mid-week days repeatedly fairing best.

Over the course of the year, Fudge's videos have been featured in numerous entertainment news sources, such as Huffington PostThe Telegraph, MSN Video, Yahoo News, Daily RecordAOL, and Reshareworthy.
