CONCEPT
Bloco was created in collaboration with Marcelo de Castro for my Master’s in Graphic Design at ELISAVA, Barcelona. It was thought as a curatorial platform that, through crowdfunding, would serve to promote, produce and commercialize new projects in the fields of design, music, art and fashion. Its core concept was to offer a fresh way of supporting emerging creators, as an alternative to mass consumerism.
NAMING + LOGO
Bloco means ‘block’ or a ‘group of people’ in Portuguese. We chose this name because it highlights the strength and aim of the project: to create and produce together. We chose Gotham for the brand’s typography, seeking a clean and bold aesthetic. The bracket underscoring the name is meant to reinforce the idea of a brand that summons the collaborative potential of individuals.

VISUAL SYSTEM
To reinforce the concept of the bracket, we have created a visual system that revolves around the graphic element of a thin contour. For instance, in the packaging project, products are literally contoured. B&W photos, contrasted with monochromatic ones, are also a parameter in our visual system, given that we have used a unique color to identify each production quarter. We chose cyan for the opening quarter, as you can see in our newspaper project.
